A coupled viscoplastic-damage constitutive model for semicrystalline polymers

In the present work, large deformation rate-dependent constitutive behavior of isotactic polypropylene is studied via an experimentally validated macroscale model. To analyze nonlinear response material, mechanical tests are conducted at room temperature and a phenomenological model proposed to describe viscoplastic yielding damage semicrystalline polymer. The based on finite elastic-viscoplastic framework that can predict rate dependent polymers under tension compression. addition, continuum scale coupled with viscoplasticity adopted incorporate cavitation induced growth, coalescence, fibrillation in material. validate model, uniaxial compression experiments homopolymer within strain rates 10–3 s-1 10-1 s-1. implemented element program ABAQUS/Explicit (ABAQUS, 2017) by writing user material subroutine (VUMAT). With parameters properly calibrated, study shows able macroscopic load-displacement curves, as well fracture responses for various standard geometries.
